Common Core Math: Kindergarten: Numbers in Base Ten

In kindergarten, students start developing an understanding of place value in base 10 by working with numbers up to 19. Students decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into 10 plus additional 1s and, likewise, create numbers from 11 to 19 by adding the relevant one-digit number to 10. Students represent their thinking visually and with equations.
